The Basic of Basics
Hello everyone and happy hump day! We made it halfway through the week and we’re awesome! Today, aka last week, I am wearing the basic of basics, denim. Denim is our timeless best friend, it never goes out of style and is ALWAYS on trend. And what better way to compliment a basic than with a basic? This day was all about comfort while walking all over campus and doing errands like a mad person and I chose to wear my Mango cotton tee. My H&M denim skirt are slightly stretchy, so they’re easy to walk in and don’t ride up much while walking long distances. Of course I am wearing my new favorite shoes, my Asos, on the go, mules. I added the denim jacket for that cool double denim look and to break up the monochromatic look. All of the pieces worn in this look are timeless, basic items that’ll out last most style trends and match with anything in my wardrobe.

Good morning all and thank you for clicking into another new post. Today I wanted to talk about a very important addition to my wardrobe recently, that is the Asos shirt dress. To start I want to mention a few pros and cons on the piece. It is made up of 99% polyester, a material they all warn you to stay clear of. Yes, I made the classic mistake of purchasing before looking at the materials, I’m a classic fashion noob. This dress, however, is forgivable. The versatility is incredible. I stumbled on it on the Asos website while on the quest for a good shirt dress that will get me through at least two seasons. When it arrived I looked at the care tag and noticed the material and got nearly worried. I’ve heard so much about materials to avoid and was torn between returning it because of what it’s made of or keeping it because it met all my requirements.
I’m no fashion textile expert so I want to know from you was this worth the buy? The dress was $49 made up of 99% polyester and 2% elastane. What do you think? Could I have gone for something better for the price or have I gotten what I’ve paid for?
Apart from materials I personally really like this dress. Again, it is a versatile piece that feels super flattering on me(sizing UK 6, US 2), if I may say so. The material will definitely keep me warm for the coming season to give me the most wear out of it. For this look I teamed contrasting pieces like my light washed jeans and black & white bag to emphasize my layering. I chose a top the same color as this layering piece to keep the look minimal. The shoes I went for are very comfortable for walking long distances and could easily be swapped out for sneakers, pumps, or boots when the weather cools down. Stay tuned for part 2 for more ideas on how to style this dress. Sadly it is no longer available but I will be on the hunt for alternative options. Have a great day!
